KENNY FERN - DIRECTOR OF COACHING

Kenny Fern is the Head Coach of the Lycoming College Women's Soccer team.

 

Fern holds the record for most career wins as Lycoming’s women’s soccer coach as well as the record for the most wins in a single campaign. He also guided Lycoming College women’s soccer to their first ever playoff birth in 2022. This went on to be the highest conference finish in program history. Fern’s Warriors have been regionally ranked on multiple occasions, with them reaching as high as 5th in the region. 

 

Prior to joining Lycoming's staff, Fern served as the assistant manager and head of the academy with the Kaya Football Club in Manila, Phillipines, where he helped the club win the Philippine Cup to qualify for the Asian Football Federation Cup in 2015.
 
Before moving to the Philippines, Fern served as a girls’ coach with Oxford Soccer League in Connecticut as part of the program’s connections with UK International Soccer. He also worked with the Arsenal Football Club U-18 women’s program for four years and the Brighton Hove Albion U-21 men’s program for four years.

IAN SCHELLER - ACADEMY DIRECTOR

Ian Scheller is the Head Women’s Soccer Coach, at Penn College.

 

In his first campaign as coach, Scheller lead the Wildcats to a 3rd place finish in the conference (improving from 6th place the previous year). The Wildcats have since reached conference semi-finals in both 2022 and 2023.

 

Under Coach Scheller, the Wildcats have had players receive All-Conference honors 8 times, with 2 players going on to receive All-Region honors. Since taking over, players have broken the single-season records for goals, points, and assists in a single-season. The team has also set a program milestone for most goals scored in a season.

 

Prior to Penn College, Scheller acted as Fern’s Assistant Coach at Lycoming College for 4 seasons, helping the Warriors become the 3rd most improved DIII team in the country in 2019.

 

Scheller also spent time as the Loyalsock boy’s soccer coach, where he claimed 2 conference titles, 2 conference coach of the year awards, as well as Sun Gazette Coach of the Year.

JAKOB LEMAY - DIRECTOR OF CLUB SOCCER

Jakob LeMay serves as Ian Scheller's assistant at Penn College.

 

LeMay primarily works with Penn College's goal keepers and defenders, taking responsibility for position specific training of both. Since joining the coaching staff, the Wildcats have gone on to keep 14 clean sheets in 39 matches, holding opponents to an average of 0.65 goals per game in the 2023 campaign. This also saw the Penn College goalkeepers set a program record for clean sheets in a season (9). 

 

In assistance to Coach Scheller, LeMay has helped mentor multiple Wildcats to receive All-Conference and All-Region honors while breaking many individual and program records in the process. LeMay has also been a part of two conference semi-finalist appearing squads with the Wildcats and has helped guide them to a 20-11-8 record in two seasons.

 

Prior to Penn College, LeMay was involved in the North Union United club system, working with the 2008 Valor Girls. LeMay's guidance helped see Valor become PA State Champions and USYS Eastern Regional Champions on the way to reaching the USYS President's Cup National Final. In this time, the team reached as high as 3rd in Pennsylvania and 15th in the US in the GotSoccer team rankings.

CHERYL UNDERHILL - COACHING STAFF

Cheryl is the head coach of the Selinsgrove Middle and High School Girls teams.

 

In 8 seasons as the Varsity Head Coach, Cheryl has lead Selinsgrove to the District Playoffs 6 times. During this time, the team earned 2 District Championships, a league title for the 1st time in fourteen years, and a trip to the State Semi-Finals.

 

In addition to coaching for Selinsgrove HS and MS, she also serves as Selinsgrove AYSO's Coaches Administrator. She has also coached for a number of clubs and teams in the area since her time as a player at Lock Haven University.

JON STEESE - COACHING STAFF

Jon Steese is going on 20 years as Head Coach of the Shikellamy High School and Middle School Boys Soccer program. Jon has used this experience to facilitate the growth of players and help place many student-athletes, at the collegiate level. Holding a number of coaching licenses and diplomas, Jon is a well-rounded coach, who specializes in player development

MARKUS RYBAK - COACHING STAFF

Markus Rybak serves as Kenny Fern's assistant at Lycoming College. 

​

Markus has over 15 years of coaching experience at both the club and collegiate levels, while going into his 9th season with the Lycoming Warriors. In his time at Lycoming, Markus has mentored numerous players to All-Conference honors and has even served has the Interim Head Coach before becoming Coach Fern's assistant. 

​

Before joining the Warriors, Markus served as the head coach of crosstown rival Penn College for four seasons, where he led the team to a 28-27-6 record and two berths in the USCAA Championships. He coached five USCAA All-Americans during his time with the Wildcats and led the team to an 11-7-2 record in his last year with the program in 2013.

​

Outside of his collegiate experience, Markus has also worked with STN NorthPenn Club for over a decade.

LYNETTE REITZ - COACHING STAFF

Lynette Reitz brings a wealth of experience to the Williamsport City Lions Coaching Staff. During her time coaching collegiately, Lynette has spent time as the interim head coach for the Lock Haven women’s team.

 

Prior to leading the Lock Haven women’s team, she spent time working as the assistant for both the men’s and women’s programs at Lock Haven, as well as Lycoming College.

 

Along with her role with the City Lions, Lynette is currently the Loyalsock Township girl’s soccer head coach.
